H&M launched its first store abroad in the UK in 1974. This landmark store was the very first that was opened outside of Scandinavia. Currently the British market is considered to be the second largest market for the low cost and highly fashionable line of clothing. The UK market is second only to Germany and swept past Sweden, the home of H&M Clothing, as the largest market. Currently there are one hundred and forty six stores in the UK. You can get a full listing of all the stores currently in operation in the UK from the H&M UK website.
